Fresh details have emerged on the death of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, Osun State, zoo keeper killed by a lion.

The Student Union President, Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Abbas Akinremi, has provided more information regarding the unfortunate incident.

He attributed the lion attack incident that led to the death of the zookeeper to human error.

Akinremi disclosed that the deceased forgot to lock the gate of the den after feeding the lion, hence the attack.

He described the deceased as unassuming and easygoing man who treated people with respect and courtesy.

He, however, disclosed that the lion in question has since been killed, hence allaying apprehension of recurrence of such incident.

“The incident was not due to any complacent management but to unfortunate human error on the part of the deceased. He forgot to lock the gate after feeding the lion.”

“Meanwhile, the lion has been killed, and we are not under any apprehension as a result of the incident. The campus is calm, and we are all fine,” Vanguard quoted him as saying.
