In Ekiti State, One Samuel Umeojili has been accused of beating his wife into a state of unconsciousness and within an inch of her life.
The 38-year-old man has since been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court for the alleged crime.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bamikole, told the court that the incident happened on February 15, at about 09am at No 2, Idolofin Street, Ado-Ekiti.
Bamikoke said the defendant assaulted his wife, Okechukwu Umeojili, by beating her to a state of coma, adding that the offence is contrary to Sections 185 and 181 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N25,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to February 29.
