- In response to these developments, residents in certain states have taken to the streets in protest
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos is set to address the residents of the state regarding the ongoing economic challenges affecting the nation.
The surge in food prices and uncontrollable inflation in Nigeria has been exacerbated since President Bola Tinubu terminated the petrol subsidy regime and unified the exchange rate in 2023.
In response to these developments, residents in certain states have taken to the streets in protest, spurred by the continuous depreciation of the naira against international currencies in the forex market.
“Dear Lagosians, as we navigate the unique economic realities in the country, it is important as the chief economic and security officer of our state to share some key policy changes for the welfare of all Lagosians,” Sanwo-Olu wrote on X.
“From enhancing food security to bolstering health and infrastructure, these steps reflect our commitment to your welfare.
“Tomorrow at 11:15 a.m., I will be having a Media Chat with Journalists from Channels TV, Arise, TVC, and LTV. It will also be live on Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1 FM and Eko FM 89.7.
“In navigating these times, resilience, creative thinking, and safety are paramount. Your steadfastness is appreciated as we work together for a stronger Lagos and Nigeria.”
