Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has strongly denounced any instance of police extortion. In a recent statement, he issued a stern warning to all officers against the misuse of his name for such illicit activities.

Expressing deep concern, the IGP highlighted the detrimental impact of such actions on his reputation and the entire Police Force. He emphasized the erosion of public trust resulting from these behaviours.

The statement, released by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, underscored the IGP’s stance. It conveyed his unequivocal message that any officer caught leveraging his name for fraudulent gain would face severe disciplinary action.

Emphasizing the importance of transparency and professionalism, the IGP stressed the critical need to curb such misconduct. He reiterated that failure to do so would jeopardize the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.

Moreover, IGP Kayode Egbetokun urged the public to remain vigilant and report any attempts to exploit his name for nefarious purposes. He highlighted the indispensable role of citizens in collaborating with the Police Force to uphold ethical standards and combat corruption.

Assuring the public of the Force’s unwavering commitment to accountability, the IGP pledged to eradicate misconduct under his leadership. He urged Nigerians to report any incidents of extortion or fraudulent behaviour promptly.
