Abdullahi Sule, governor of Nasarawa state, has commended the efforts of the Nigerian Army in its fight against terrorism, insurgency and other security threats in the country.

Sule gave the commendation on Saturday at the 2023 West African Social Activities (WASA) of the Nigerian Army’s 4 Special Forces command in the Doma LGA of the state.

The governor who was the special guest of honor at the occasion, praised the force for continuing its annual social event, WASA, which brings officers and their families together to fortify the already-existing ties among various ethnic groups in the military, while also praising the bravery and gallantry of the command’s personnel.

Sule further stated that the event was an opportunity for officers and soldiers to mingle, and revisit their traditions and cultures, adding that it was a pointer to the resolve and determination of the Nigerian Army to create an avenue to socialise with fellow soldiers and families.

He assured that his administration would provide maximum support to the Nigerian Army in all its operations in the state.

“The 4 Special Forces is a specialised component of the Nigerian Army which is saddled with the responsibility of Air-bound operations, counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism, foreign-internal defence and unconventional warfare among others,” the governor said.

“I am much aware of your operational efforts in the various parts of the states, some of which led to our gallant men paying supreme prices in service to the nation.

“In recognition of your patriotic service, this administration will continue to support the efforts of our security personnel through the provision of security vehicles for surveillance and other support to ensure the protection of lives and property of our citizens.”

Hillary Nzan, commander of the 4 Special Forces in Doma, explained that WASA was created to take officers and soldiers away from their routine regimental life to an atmosphere, where they can unwind and relax freely with one another and civilians,

He pledged to continue fighting crime and defending the country’s territorial integrity.

Five officers were awarded for their exceptional performance.
