In Kwara State, Three siblings have lost their lives after they locked themselves in a car leading to suffocation.
The incident happened on Sunday around 2pm at No 8, Boluke Line, Zango-Kulende Quarters in Ilorin.
It was gathered that Shade Sili-fat, the mother of the victims, a boy and two girls, had gone out to buy noodles for their school meal for Monday but came back and discovered them lying motionless inside the car.
According to a neighbour privy to the development, the mother cried out for help after repeatedly calling out to the kids and got no response.
A neighbour said, “When the mother returned, she discovered their shoes outside the parked car and called them persistently without any response. She then raised alarm before the door of the car was forced open by neighbours.
“The kids were rushed to the Olutayo Clinic close to their house. The Medical Director, one Dr Adeyemo, was said to have referred them to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) where they were confirmed dead.
The spokeswoman of the Kwara State Police Command, Toun Ejire-Adeyem, who confirmed the incident, said “We discovered that the incident happened when operatives visited their residence. They had then buried the kids (at the Muslim cemetery, Osere.
“But the family did not officially report the matter. It’s very unfortunate.”
