FG to shut Third Mainland Bridge for 24 hours Wednesday

...roads users to use alternative routes

The Lagos State Government has released notification for the planned total closure of the Third Mainland Bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works.

The state’s Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who announced this, explained that “The planned total closure, which is to allow the contractor to execute a major aspect of the ongoing repair works on the bridge, will affect both bounds of the carriageways from noon tomorrow, Wednesday, 28 to noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024.”

Consequently, all road users have been advised to use alternative routes already provided during the period, as the Third Mainland bridge would not be open to traffic for 24 hours.

He listed the alternative routes to include Funsho Williams Avenue to connect Carter Bridge and Eko Bridge via Ijora, among others.

While commending the general public for their patience and cooperation, Osiyemi assured that the traffic management officials would be on ground to manage traffic and minimise inconveniences.

He urged motorists to comply with the traffic and law enforcement that would be directing the traffic to ensure smooth movement during the period.
