Chelsea winger, Mykhailo Mudryk, did not fancy a move to the club but his hands were forced by the west London’s team deep pocket and willingness to splurge.

The Ukrainian star was well course for a move to Chelsea’s rival, Arsenal, as the former as identified him as a player capable of providing competition for Bukayo Saka.

The former Shakhtar Donestk player was already relishing the prospect of playing for Arsenal and dropped hints with a series of insinuation posts on social media.

However, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly dislodged Arsenal as favourite to secure the service of the player with his mouth-watering and hard-to-reject financial offer to Shakhtar and the player ultimately signed for Chelsea for a fee which could eventually rise to £88million.

According to the Athletic, Arsenal were informed that Mudryk was left deeply upset and devastated after the move fell through.

Mudryk has to win the faith of the three Chelsea managers he has played under, struggling to nail down a place under Graham Potter, Frank Lampard and current incumbent Mauricio Pochettino.
