Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State announced on Thursday that the state’s legislative and judicial branches of government have been granted full financial autonomy.
Alia announced Tersoo Kula, his Chief Press Secretary, while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive meeting at Government House in Makurdi.
He explained that the idea would ensure the smooth and efficient operation of government administration by making all branches of government more focused and organised in moving the state forward.
The governor also disclosed that the meeting approved the establishment of a Benue Sub-National Fund, similar to the Federal Government’s National Sovereign Fund.
Alia added that a committee had already been formed to draw up an operational framework, which would be forwarded to the state House of Assembly to make it law.
