Edo Guber: PDP Constitutes Post-Primary Election Reconciliation Committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), worried about the need to settle major internal conflicts endangering its prospects in the September 21 Edo governorship election, has established a formidable Post-Primary Election Reconciliation Committee.

The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, revealed a list of committee members on Friday. The list includes one governor, three former governors, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and former senators.

“Following the successful conduct of our Edo State Governorship Primary Election, the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution and Guidelines of our Party, constitutes the Edo State Post-Primary Election Reconciliation Committee.

“The Committee is charged with the responsibility of reconciling all critical stakeholders and all our party members in Edo State ahead of the September 21, 2024 Governorship Election in the State,” Ologunagba stated.

The Edo PDP Reconciliation Committee is to be chaired by Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed, who is also the chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum while Enoidem Moses Emmanuel, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who previously served as National Legal Adviser for the PDP is to serve as Committee Secretary.

Members of the committee include former Kaduna Governor Ahmed Makarfi; an ex-Bayelsa Governor Senator Seriake Dickson and Senator Tunde Ogbeha, a retired brigadier general who served as the administrator of Akwa Ibom State and then of Bendel State during the military rule of General Ibrahim Babangida (1985–1993).

Other members are Senator Stella Omu; former Presidential Liasion Adviser, Dr Esther Uduehi; Deputy Senate Minority Leader Olalere Oyewumi; Senator Sandy Ojang who represented Cross River Central Senatorial District from 2019 to 2023 and a former Secretary to the Kwara State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Sola Gold.
