Kaduna residents loot BUA company truck, steal cartoons of noodles

It occurred after youths, accusing the company of unjustified price hikes

Some residents of Zaria in Kaduna State on Friday looted numerous cartons of noodles from a moving truck carrying food supplies owned by the BUA company.

A local resident in the Dogarawa area of Zaria reported the incident to SaharaReporters, stating that it occurred after youths, accusing the company of unjustified price hikes, blocked the truck. Seizing the opportunity, several residents rushed to take cartons of noodles loaded at the back of the truck.

The Kaduna State Police Spokesman, Mohammad Jalagie, did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him to seek his reaction on the issue.

Nigerians took to the streets on Monday morning to protest against the escalating cost of food items and the biting economic hardship.

The protest march witnessed a crowd of placard-carrying youths expressing their discontent.

Their chants resonated through the air as the protesters conveyed their frustration, with videos of the protests quickly gaining traction on social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), under the hashtag #Enoughisenough.
