Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa has authorized the payment of a N10,000 wage award to civil servants in the state.

This decision was conveyed in a statement by the state Head of Civil Service (HoS), Alhaji Muhammad Dagaceri, on Monday in Dutse.

Dagaceri disclosed that the State Executive Council (SEC) had sanctioned the immediate disbursement of the wage award to workers for three months, citing it as a measure to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the prevailing conditions in the country and reflects the state government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of its citizens.

“The governor has given the green light for the immediate disbursement of N20,000 to each public servant as cash palliative for January and February 2024, respectively.

“Starting from today, Monday, the 4th of March, civil servants will begin receiving alerts for the two months’ cash palliative as directed by the governor. Additionally, by the end of this month, the government will settle the remaining one month for March,” he stated.

Furthermore, Dagaceri announced the government’s intention to distribute food palliatives to the workers, highlighting the establishment of a committee to oversee the smooth implementation of this initiative.

“The government will soon introduce measures to alleviate transportation challenges faced by civil servants.”

Regarding the Worker Agricultural Support Scheme (JWASS), Dagaceri revealed plans to distribute fertilizers and inputs to civil servants at subsidized rates.
