- Aiyedatiwa noted Tinubu’s efforts in repositioning the nation to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians due to rising prices of essential goods
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo has emphasized that the prevailing challenges extend beyond the state, reassuring residents that President Bola Tinubu’s economic strategies are poised to alleviate the difficulties.
Speaking at a political gathering in Ondo, Mr Aiyedatiwa explained that the state was already resolving the issue of food crisis and hardship by equipping the farmers.
Aiyedatiwa noted Tinubu’s efforts in repositioning the nation to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians due to rising prices of essential goods.
“Today, the state is very peaceful; the people are happy even when we have some hardship in the country; it is not peculiar to our state,” Mr Aiyedatiwa said Tuesday in Ondo. “It is all over the nation because of the resetting that President Bola Tinubu has embarked upon, and I want to tell you that this current hardship we are facing right now is just a matter of time.”
He added, “And very soon, all the programmes and policies that are being put in place both at the federal and state levels would begin to yield results.”
With the removal of fuel subsidies and floating of the naira, many Nigerians have groaned over government policies, which resulted in skyrocketing prices of petrol, foodstuff and other commodities.
Despite the complaints, Mr Tinubu repeatedly claimed he was “aware of all the difficulties occasioned” by some of his decisions.
He added that his government was also ensuring that transporting the food items from the rural communities to the main town was made with ease.
“In our state (Ondo), we are already looking at the direction of helping our farmers in various ways, first to ensure that they are protected from marauders, and that is why the security architecture of this state is being given strong priority.
“Our rural roads to our farm settlements are also getting attention so that our farmers can get to the farms and transport their farm produce to the urban centres,” the governor said.
Meanwhile, the leaders of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo East and Ondo West local LGAs supported Mr Aiyedatiwa ahead of the party’s primary.
