Tragedy struck in Fanzo community, located in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, as gunmen unleashed a deadly attack, resulting in the death of a herder and the loss of 50 cattle and sheep.

Alhaji Dan-Azumi, who suffered the loss of 21 cattle in the assault, recounted the harrowing incident, stating that the assailants opened fire indiscriminately, leaving one herder dead and another injured.

According to Dan-Azumi, the attackers not only killed livestock but also made off with more than 50 cattle, some of which succumbed to their injuries while others were slaughtered due to the severity of their wounds.

Describing the attack as unprovoked, Dan-Azumi emphasized the need for a thorough investigation by security forces to apprehend the perpetrators and recover the stolen cattle.

The Sector Four Commander has convened a meeting with affected parties, urging restraint and promising a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Garba Abdullahi, the state chairman of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN), echoed the call for justice, urging security agencies to swiftly identify and apprehend the culprits to prevent further acts of violence.

Despite attempts to reach out for comment, Operation Safe Haven’s spokesman, Major Samson Zhakom, remained unavailable at the time of filing this report.

The community remains on edge following the tragic attack, with residents pleading for swift action to ensure justice for the victims and prevent similar incidents in the future.
