The Zamfara state chapter of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis-Sunnah has maintained its stance on the involvement of Zamfara Community Protection Guards (CPG) personnel in the brutal murder of Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada, Chairman of the JIBWIS Ulama Council in Gusau Local Government.
Sheikh Mada was fatally attacked on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, in Mada town, Gusau local government area of Zamfara, allegedly by individuals suspected to be members of the Community Protection Guards (CPG).
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Na-Allah Zurmi, the JIBWIS reiterated that eyewitnesses in Mada town had identified certain members of Zamfara State’s CPG as the perpetrators, contrary to the official statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris.
The organization confirmed the CPG Commander, Col Rabi’u Yandoto (rtd), ‘s acknowledgement of his personnel’s involvement in the tragic incident.
“We call on Sulaiman Bala Idris to retract his statement defending the perpetrators and advise him against overstepping the boundaries of trained professionals. As an Islamic organization, we remind the spokesperson to fear Allah and speak the truth, knowing that he will be held accountable in the hereafter,” the statement read.
While mourning the loss, the JIBWIS urged its members to refrain from vigilantism, emphasizing its commitment to pursuing legal avenues to expose and prosecute the attackers following the law.
The organization condemned the governor’s spokesperson’s statement and urged him to exercise caution when addressing sensitive matters.
The JIBWIS reiterated its dedication to ensuring justice for the deceased’s family while urging relevant authorities to expedite the investigation to uncover the perpetrators.
