The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc Ahmed Dangiwa, has warned real estate developers sternly, urging them to refrain from engaging in deceitful and shoddy projects, asserting that the era of taking shortcuts in the housing sector has ended.
Addressing attendees at the commissioning of D’ Mayors Estate and the commencement of Project Broadfield, Dangiwa underscored the government’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding citizens’ rights and combatting fraud in the real estate domain.
In a firm message directed at developers involved in unethical behaviours, particularly those who deceive clients and deliver inferior projects post-payment, Dangiwa stated, “I want to warn all developers; the days of cutting corners in these housing times are over, and those who collect monies from beneficiaries and at the end of the day, duped them should stop doing that because the days are over for that.”
He emphasized that such malpractices will no longer be tolerated, as the government is actively collaborating with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ensure transparency and protect citizens’ rights.
“We are effectively collaborating with the EFCC, the government agency responsible for enforcing citizens’ rights, to address this issue collectively,” the minister affirmed.
