The 81 division of the Nigerian Army in Lagos says it has paraded nine suspects said to be impersonating military men in the state and neighbouring Ogun.
Olabisi Ayeni, acting deputy director of army public relations, 81 Division paraded the suspects before the media at the division’s headquarters on Victoria Island.
Ayeni added that division also arrested one Abua Jacob, a dismissed soilder on February 7, 2024, at Alaba international market in Ojo for impersonation.
Other include; Bida Musa, Esther Audu, and Vivian Titus, Solomon Abraham, Michael Omieh, Mohammed Jemilu, and Dauda Samuel.
Ayeni further stated that the suspects have been taken into custody on a number of charges, including unauthorized security services, performing escort services while disguising themselves as military personnel, and more.
Their acts have damaged the Nigerian Army 6’s respected reputation in addition jeopardizing civilian safety.
The suspects will be handed over to the Nigerian Police for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
