The remains of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, were on Friday evening laid to rest at his Aliwo ancestral family home in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The late monarch, who reigned for two years, joined his ancestors at the age of 81 on Thursday night at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, after a brief illness.
The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Agbotomokekere, led the Muslim faithful at funeral prayer (Janaza) for the late monarch before he was interred.
Dignitaries at the funeral prayer included the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal, who led members of the State Executive Council and top government officials; former Minister of Special Duties, Elder Wole Oyelese; Alhaji Daud Akinola, and a younger brother of the deceased monarch and one-time Senator, who represented Oyo South Senatorial District from 2019 to 2023, Kola Balogun, among others.
