President Bola Tinubu has authorized the elevation of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy in Enugu to a fully-fledged university.

Henceforth, it will be recognized as the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu, and will function under the jurisdiction of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s decision to upgrade the institution in a formal statement.

The statement reads: “As part of his dedicated efforts to build robust human resources for the health and social welfare sector, President Bola Tinubu has approved the conversion of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Enugu, to a full-fledged University of Allied Health Sciences.

“The Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy in Enugu will now be known as the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu, and will be domiciled under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.”

The announcement comes alongside details of President Tinubu’s broader healthcare initiatives. These initiatives include training an additional 120,000 frontline health workers across the country within the next 16 months.
