Harry Kane achieved a new milestone by scoring his 31st league goal of the season as Bayern Munich secured a victory against Darmstadt, narrowing the gap on Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen to seven points.
Darmstadt initially took the lead with a goal from Tim Skarke, but Jamal Musiala equalized for Bayern. Kane then put Bayern ahead with a diving header, followed by Musiala’s second goal as he dribbled past the Darmstadt defense.
Substitutes Serge Gnabry and Mathys Tel extended Bayern’s lead, while Oscar Vilhelmsson scored Darmstadt’s second goal.
Despite Darmstadt’s efforts in the first half, Bayern asserted control in the second half, capitalizing on their opponent’s fatigue.
Kane’s achievement marks a remarkable debut season in the Bundesliga, surpassing the previous record of 30 goals set by Uwe Seeler for Hamburg in 1963-64. Notably, Kane will face his former club Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals next month, having scored 14 goals against them in 19 appearances.
The first leg of the quarter-final tie will take place at Emirates Stadium on 9 April, with the return leg scheduled for 17 April.
