Bandits’ informant arrested with stolen cow in Kaduna market

The incident occurred last Thursday when the suspect arrived at the market with the stolen cow

A suspected informant for bandits, identified as Dan Abba, was apprehended by vigilantes at Bishini village market in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State while attempting to sell a stolen cow.

According to Ahmadu Sajo, a resident of Azzara near Bishini village, the incident occurred last Thursday when the suspect arrived at the market with the stolen cow.

Sajo mentioned that the suspect was believed to be one of the informants for bandits who had recently carried out abductions of herders and cattle rustling in areas such as Kuchimi, Haying-Dam, and the Gidan-Makeri vicinity of Kagarko town.

He noted that the troops in the area had identified the suspect, along with other fugitives, as wanted individuals. The suspect’s luck ran out when he was caught with the stolen cow at the village market last Thursday.

The resident said the suspect had been handed over to troops alongside the stolen cow, even as he said the vigilantes were making efforts to trail where some of the stolen cows were kept.

According to him, “The vigilantes suspected that the cow the suspect brought to the market might be among those cows that were stolen two weeks ago at a village in Kagarko LGA,” he added.

The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, SP Hassan Mansur, has not responded to calls or reply to text messages at press time.
