Fire has engulfed the Sokoto Central market, with the motorcycle section of the market affected.
According to PUNCH, the fire started early this morning, but its cause cannot be immediately established.
But another source stated that, the Sokoto Central market fire originated near the motorcycle section at a trash site.
In response, Shehu Muhammad, the chairman of the Motorcycles Marketers Association, stated that because the fire was still blazing, they were unable to estimate the number of motorcycles that had been destroyed.
“We cannot quantify the number of motorcycles burnt down by the fire now because the fire is still raging.
“But many people lost their shops along with their motorcycles because they could not come in time as the fire started around 6am.
“But men of the federal and state fire services are currently battling, but I know it will take some time before they can quench it all,” he said.
He, however, appealed to the state government to come to the aid of those who lost their property during the inferno.
