Two children have lost their lives after fire broke out at their house in the Madina Quarters community in Bauchi state.
The late kids are identified as Zainab Bashir Muhammad (Hibba) and Ummu Salma Bashir, aged 7 and 5 respectively.
The incident was said to have happened on Sunday morning near Barden Gabas Primary School, close to Tirwun Quarters, within the Bauchi metropolis.
According to reports, the children’s mother had locked the kids inside the house and went out.
Unfortunately, the house was gutted by fire before she came back.
It’s gathered that efforts to rescue the children were futile due to the intensity of the fire.
Also, efforts by the state fire department, which visited the scene to contain the fire, were abortive.
However, details remain sketchy as to what led to the fire outbreak but a resident in the Madina Quarters, Usman Abdullahi (Dan Usmanu), told newsmen at the scene, said it was unusual for the mother to leave her children locked in the house.
Meanwhile, the children have been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites
