Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has called upon the federal government to connect electricity to eight local government areas (LGAs).
During a Thursday meeting with the Minister of Power, Adelabu Adebayo, at the Sokoto government house, Governor Aliyu emphasized that these eight LGAs have been deprived of electricity for several years.
“We require your assistance in reconnecting the eight local government areas that have been deprived of electricity for years and enhancing the overall electricity supply in the state,” Aliyu stated.
Furthermore, he urged the federal government to reconsider the possibility of harnessing electricity from the Goronyo Dam, highlighting its potential to generate sufficient megawatts to meet the nation’s energy needs.
