Anambra: Mother escapes as truck crushes children to death

An accident involving a truck has claimed the lives of two children in Anambra state.

The tragedy happened around 5:00 pm on Saturday at the River Niger Bridge head in Onitsha area the State.

It was gathered that the truck suffered a brake failure, leading to the accident.

The mother of the two deceased children escaped death by a whisker when the truck rammed into a throng of passengers waiting to board a bus.

An eyewitness, who confirmed the incident, said: “The trailer which was heading towards Asaba lost control and hit the mother and her children alongside other passengers waiting to board vehicles heading to Asaba.

“The mother was lucky, as she escaped, but her two children were crushed to death.”

The eyewitness said the mother cried profusely. Some other people involved in the accident sustained injuries.

As at the time of filing this report, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has not commented on the incident
