The Kano State government has announced the receipt of 195 truckloads of assorted grains from the Federal Government. These grains are slated for distribution across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.

This gesture forms part of the palliative measures provided by the Federal Government to alleviate hardship, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, as the Muslim faithful observe fasting.

Sunusi Bature Dawakin, the spokesperson for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, revealed during a press briefing on Sunday that the received grains include 100 trucks of 25kg rice, 44 trucks of sorghum, 14 trucks of millet, and 41 trucks of maize. Within the week, these will be distributed across the 484 wards in the state’s 44 local government areas.

Additionally, Bature stated that efforts are underway to procure approximately 132 additional trucks of 25kg rice for distribution across the state.

He further highlighted the contributions of Alhaji Aliko Dangote and President Bola Tinubu, whose palliatives were gratefully received. In collaboration with local governments, the state government is working to procure additional rice trucks for distribution during Ramadan.

The initiative aims to provide relief to residents during this fasting period and ensure access to essential food items across the state.
