On Saturday, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff, urged Nigerians to pray fervently for the country’s peace, unity, and progress amidst the prevailing challenges.
Acknowledging the nation’s current struggles in both economic and security spheres, Ogalla expressed confidence in divine intervention through prayers.
At an Iftar (breaking of fasting) event organized by the Nigerian Navy Islamic Directorate in Abuja, Ogalla emphasized the importance of seeking Allah’s guidance amid socio-economic adversities.
“While our nation grapples with formidable challenges, particularly in security and economic fronts, we recognize the significance of spiritual supplication alongside our efforts to surmount these obstacles,” he remarked.
Ogalla highlighted the convergence of Ramadan with the Lenten period for Christians, underscoring the unity among religions, especially Islam and Christianity. He emphasized the collective responsibility to pray God’s intervention in Nigeria’s affairs.
Encouraging Nigerians to devote themselves to God to receive divine mercy, Ogalla stressed the imperative of praying for peace and security nationwide. He commended the commitment of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces towards addressing the nation’s issues. He affirmed the readiness of military officers to support these efforts.
“I urge our Muslim brethren to persist in praying for the peace and security of our nation,” Ogalla concluded.
