A 65-year-old man named Dauda Lamidi has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Osun Command, on suspicion of possessing hemp, Cannabis sativa.
The command’s spokesperson, Charles Odigie, disclosed in a statement on Monday in Osogbo.
While performing operational responsibilities, soldiers of the command detained the suspect, according to Odigie, along the Ibadan-Iwo expressway.
He clarified that the suspect was in possession of a dried substance that seemed to be hemp and was kept inside a two-liter engine oil gallon.
He added that the substance weighed about 1.550kg.
According to him, the suspect is an ex-convict, who was convicted for the same offence in 2019 and was incarcerated in a correctional facility for three years.
