The Nigerian Army is preparing to release over 200 detainees who have been cleared of any affiliation with the Boko Haram sect.
These individuals, who were apprehended during the insurgency, are now deemed innocent and eligible for release.
According to reports, they will be handed over to the Borno State Government to facilitate their proper reintegration into society.
The formal handover ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday morning at Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State.
A source disclosed, “Not fewer than 200 cleared Boko Haram suspects, who have been absolved of any wrongdoing by security agencies, will be transferred to the Borno State Government for rehabilitation and reintegration.”
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Zuwaira Gambo, and the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof Tar Umar, are expected to receive the cleared detainees on behalf of the state government during the ceremony.
