Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has refuted claims suggesting he called for the resignation of Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a press statement released on Wednesday in Makurdi by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia clarified his stance on the matter.
Reacting to media reports alleging the governor’s demand for Ganduje’s resignation, Kula affirmed that Governor Alia never made such a call at any point.
He emphasized that Governor Alia maintains a cordial relationship with the leadership of the APC under Ganduje’s stewardship.
“It is crucial to set the record straight that Governor Alia has neither convened nor participated in any meeting, either in person or through representation, to discuss the removal or resignation of Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje,” Kula stated.
Kula reiterated the governor’s unwavering support and loyalty to the National Working Committee of the APC, led by Ganduje, stressing that there has been no indication, publicly or privately, of any desire for Ganduje’s resignation from Governor Alia.
He affirmed that Governor Alia’s primary focus remains on advancing the development agenda of Benue State and steering the APC to future electoral triumphs.
“As the leader of the APC in Benue State, Governor Alia is committed to revitalizing the party and ensuring its continued success through legitimate means,” Kula concluded.
