The Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, in collaboration with TotalEnergies Upstream Nigeria Limited, has generously gifted a fully equipped maternal and child referral centre to the Kwoi community in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
During the commissioning ceremony at Kwoi General Hospital, Matthew Bouyer, Chief Executive Officer of TotalEnergies Upstream Nigeria Limited, highlighted that the centre’s donation aligns with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Bouyer’s speech was conveyed to guests by the company’s Acting General Manager, CSR, Mrs. Tonye Osifo, via Zoom. He emphasized that this project, alongside others nationwide, aims to address gaps in maternal and child healthcare, education quality, access to water, and empowerment of women and youth, in line with Sustainable Development Goals.
Mr. Bala Wunti, Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services, underscored the significance of industry collaboration, lauding the facility as a testament to its power. He urged the hospital management to ensure the centre’s sustainable utilization for positive community impact.
Expressing gratitude, Dr. Danladi Gyet Maude, the Kpop Ham and paramount ruler of Jaba chiefdom, thanked the donors for their generosity, acknowledging the relief brought to the community.
Dr. Osita Achunike, Medical Director of General Hospital Kwoi, emphasized the project’s timeliness, foreseeing its crucial role in reducing Nigeria’s alarming child and maternal mortality rates, among the highest globally.
