Silvex International Limited, a thriving agribusiness and logistics firm, has announced the completion of an agreement with the Kogi State Government.
The agreement involves the leasing and management of the Ejiba rice mill, aimed at fostering agricultural productivity and driving economic growth in the state.
Speaking to reporters in Kano, the Managing Director/CEO of Silvex, Alhaji Abubakar Karfi, highlighted the company’s indigenous roots and its recent rapid expansion.
Emphasizing their focus on commodity aggregation, processing, and trading, Karfi disclosed plans to invest significant sums in Kogi State’s agricultural sector. He outlined that through this lease agreement, Silvex aims to infuse new energy into the Ejiba Rice Mill Factory.
Leveraging advanced technologies, efficient processes, and sustainable agricultural methods, the company aims to rejuvenate production operations and maximize output.
According to him, the agreement reached was facilitated by the secretary to the state government, Dr Mrs Ayoade Folashade Arike, who signed the agreement on behalf of the Kogi State Government.
The rice mill was one of the projects of the immediate past administration of Yahaya Bello, situated in Yagba West Local Government Area. It has been recognised as a cornerstone of the state’s agricultural sector. However, in recent years, operational challenges have hindered its full capacity utilisation, prompting the need for intervention and modernisation.
