Abuja witnessed a historic moment over the weekend as Afri-Tech United, a prominent tech consulting firm based in the United States, finalized a groundbreaking deal with the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (FMSTI) to implement a cloud migration project in Nigeria.
Mr. Jacob Uwah, the lead partner of Afri-Tech United and a Nigerian IT expert based in the US, revealed the details of the partnership in a statement. He outlined that the collaboration aims to establish a Master Cloud Platform, a strategic endeavour to propel Nigeria into a new era of cyber sophistication and global technological leadership.
According to Mr. Uwah, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Chief Uche Nnaji, engaged in extensive discussions over several months with the Afri-Tech United team to devise the framework for the Master Cloud Platform, reflecting a commitment to transformative collaboration.
“This project exemplifies the power of cooperation, heralding a future of cyber excellence,” remarked Mr. Uwah.
Chief Nnaji emphasized the significance of the initiative in modernizing Nigeria’s infrastructure, optimizing both public and private sectors, and revitalizing traditional revenue-generating activities through strategic partnerships.
He underscored the alignment of this partnership with the administration’s goal, spearheaded by President Bola Tinubu, to create two million tech jobs annually. Chief Nnaji also highlighted Vice President Kashim Shettima’s endorsement of the visionary efforts to address unemployment and unlock opportunities for Nigerian youth, as articulated during an interview at this year’s World Economic Forum with Arise TV.
Additionally, Chief Nnaji noted that the Master Cloud Platform sets the stage for Afri-Tech United’s forthcoming Innovation Centre development, further solidifying the partnership’s commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement in Nigeria.
