- Hon. Ibrahim Ahmadu criticizes Bashir El-Rufai’s disrespectful comments on Governor Uba Sani’s performance and handling of Kaduna’s finances
- Ahmadu defends Governor Sani’s disclosure of the state’s financial challenges and condemns Bashir El-Rufai’s unwarranted attack on him
Kaduna-based politician and activist Hon. Ibrahim Ahmadu has strongly criticized Bashir El-Rufai, son of the former Kaduna governor, for what he calls a disrespectful and ill-mannered attack on Governor Uba Sani.
Bashir, son of the immediate-past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, recently accused Governor Sani of incompetence and poor performance.
This reaction comes after Governor Sani’s comments on the challenges inherited from the previous administration during a town hall meeting in Kaduna. Governor Sani revealed a substantial debt burden left behind by the El-Rufai administration, including significant financial liabilities.
In response, Bashir El-Rufai took to social media to criticize Governor Sani, accusing him of surrounding himself with incompetent aides and deflecting blame for the state’s financial woes.
However, Hon. Ibrahim Ahmadu came to the defense of Governor Sani, stating that it is reasonable for the governor to disclose the state’s financial situation to the public.
Ahmadu condemned Bashir El-Rufai’s comments as unwarranted, stating, “His vituperations are unguarded, stupid, and unacceptable, especially considering the support his family received during political challenges.”
He emphasized that it is unacceptable for Bashir to attack the incumbent governor, particularly given the serious financial challenges facing Kaduna State.
“In our view as Kaduna citizens, we cannot tolerate a situation where a significant portion of the state’s federal allocation is used to service debt,” Ahmadu stated. “Bashir should feel ashamed of his actions.”
