He decried the pervasive insecurity plaguing the country, labelling it unacceptable and urging the government to take urgent action to address the crisis.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Bishop Kukah painted a grim picture of Nigeria’s current state, describing it as a profoundly broken nation in urgent need of healing. He pointed to the staggering number of daily fatalities across the country, lamenting the pervasive atmosphere of fear and unrest that has gripped the populace.
Bishop Kukah highlighted the prevalence of abandoned development projects scattered throughout Nigeria as poignant reminders of the country’s deep-seated fractures. He emphasized the plight of hundreds of Nigerian citizens held in captivity and the sobering reality of mass burials occurring with alarming frequency.
“The evidence is undeniable: Nigeria has become a graveyard of sorts, with hundreds of lives lost and no end in sight,” Bishop Kukah remarked.
He urged the government to prioritize addressing insecurity as a crucial step towards national healing. According to Bishop Kukah, restoring security and stability is paramount to enabling ordinary citizens to resume their daily lives, particularly farmers who cannot tend to their fields due to pervasive insecurity.
“Ending insecurity is the first step towards healing our nation. The government must implement decisive measures to combat this crisis and restore peace to our communities,” Bishop Kukah emphasized.
