- No fewer than 30 children were abducted by the suspected bandits during the invasion in the early hours of Monday
Suspected bandits terrorising Nigeria’s north west region have struck again in Katsina State.
The rampaging bandits invaded Kasai village, located in the Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State university on Monday.
No fewer than 30 children were abducted by the bandits during the invasion in the early hours of Monday.
Batsari, a hotbed of insecurity and other criminal activities, has been plagued by perennial nefarious activities of bandits and criminal elements in recent times.
Details of the incident remain hazy as neither the State government officials nor the security agencies have issued a statement regarding it.
However, a local who was privy to incident, disclosed that the abduction happened after the children ventured behind Kasai village to fetch firewood for cooking.
“Yes, the attack occurred yesterday, Monday, in the morning hours. It all began when the children numbering up to thirty went behind the Kasai village to secure firewood which their parents would use to cook food for them.
“Unfortunately, some suspected bandits intercepted them and took them to an unknown destination.
“We do hope and pray that peace and security will be restored in our state”, Channels TV quoted him as saying.
