‘Nine students’ abducted in Delta State by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have regained their freedom.

Within Nigeria had reported how the students were abducted while traveling along the East-West in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

According to a security source, a Sienna bus transporting the group of students coming from Calabar in Cross River State was hijacked within the Evwreni axis.

The source disclosed that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N10 million.

However, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, has now said the students have regained their freedom.

The Delta State police image maker confirmed the release of the students in a terse statement on his official X page on Tuesday.

“All nine of the victims have regained their freedom,” he wrote.

It’s, however, not immediately clear if ransom was paid to secure the release of the students or a rescue operation was carried out by the police to secure their freedom.
