Wike kicks as secondus, Sekibo other top Rivers’ politicians declare support for Fubara

Fubara and Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has lambasted some leaders of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for throwing their weight behind the embattled incumbent governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers, said the support of these politicians for Fubara won’t change anything as they don’t matter in the grand scheme of things.

Recall that PDP leaders in Rivers State, Abiye Sekibo; ex-PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus; ex-governorship aspirant, Celestine Omehia; and ex-lawmaker, Austin Opara; had last week declared support for Fubara and called on the President to caution Wike.

Speaking during a chat with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike described Sekibo, Secondus, Omehia and Opara as expired politicians who are not fit to be called “elder statesmen”.

The FCT minister said they were all inconsequential as he kicked them out of the party.

Wike insisted that Secondus was no longer a member of the PDP as his suspension was validated by the court.

For months on end now, the relationship between Wike and Fubara has continued to deteriorate rapidly as the duo engage in cold war over the political and economic control of the oil-rich southern State.
