Amid the prevailing hardship in the country, some residents of Ondo State were reported to have looted a truck transporting food items.

According to sources, the truck encountered mechanical issues at the cultural center junction on the Ondo express road, leading to the driver overpowered by the residents.

Upon investigation, remnants of the looted food items, particularly grains such as rice and garri branded with President Bola Tinubu’s name and logo, were scattered along the roadside.

Witnesses confirmed that those involved in the looting included petty traders, artisans, drivers, and commercial motorcyclists. Despite the circumstances, the organized manner in which the looters accessed the truck’s contents raised eyebrows.

Ibidapo Adelusi, a social commentator, condemned the residents’ actions and called on law enforcement agencies to apprehend the perpetrators. He emphasized that while the country faces hardship, resorting to theft is unacceptable.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state stated that no official complaints had been lodged regarding the incident.

This incident in Ondo State follows a similar occurrence in Kebbi State, highlighting the widespread desperation and hunger experienced by Nigerians.
