Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has granted approval for a subsidy of N500,000 to be provided to each of the 1,273 intending Muslim Pilgrims from the state for the upcoming Hajj exercise.
The decision comes in response to adjustments made to the 2024 Hajj fare by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), as revealed by the governor’s spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, in a statement.
This approval aims to alleviate the financial burden on intending pilgrims from the state, particularly given the current economic challenges.
The statement further expressed Governor Yahaya’s hope that this intervention would contribute to a smooth and spiritually enriching Hajj exercise for all pilgrims from Gombe State. Additionally, it aims to create a conducive environment for religious activities despite the prevailing economic challenges.
