  • The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) criticized Rev Yakubu Pam’s dismissal from the Nigeria Christian Pilgrimage Commission (NCPC) as unjustified
  • NEF expressed dismay over the lack of transparency in Pam’s removal and called for his reinstatement, emphasizing fair representation

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has voiced concern over the recent dismissal of The Rev Yakubu Pam from his role as the executive secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrimage Commission (NCPC).

In a statement released by Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the NEF’s director of publicity and advocacy/spokesperson, the forum criticized the decision as unjustified. It highlighted its impact on the northern Christian and Muslim communities.

Expressing dismay at the lack of transparency surrounding Pam’s removal, the NEF emphasized the need for accountability and fairness in such matters. They decried Pam’s reported treatment, stating that his alleged eviction from the office without regard for his dignity was unacceptable.

“How Rev Pam was reportedly treated is deeply troubling. The NEF strongly condemns such actions and urges that Pam be accorded the dignity and respect he deserves,” the statement affirmed.

Furthermore, the NEF raised questions regarding appointing a successor from Lagos, particularly as Pam was the sole representative of the northern Christian community in a top leadership position within the government. This move has sparked concerns about the representation of northern Christians in key roles.

In light of these concerns, the NEF called for a review of Pam’s removal and advocated for his reinstatement to his former position. They emphasized the importance of ensuring fair representation and equitable treatment within the government, particularly for marginalized communities.
