JUST-IN: No Sight Of Crescent Moon, Ramadan Fast Continues Tuesday

Ramadan can either run for 29 or 30 days, depending on the sighting of a new crescent moon.

Haramain, an Islamic agency in Saudi Arabia, has declared that fasting in the month of Ramadan continues on Tuesday while eid-el-fitr will be held on Wednesday.

WITHIN NIGERIA reports that Muhammad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto earlier asked Muslims in the country to look out for the new moon of Shawwal 1445 AH on Monday.

Ramadan can either run for 29 or 30 days, depending on the sighting of a new crescent moon.

As this year’s Ramadan nears its end, astronomers have been engaging in careful observation for a new moon to determine the day of eid-el-fitr.

In a tweet on Monday, Haramain announced that Ramadan will last for 30 days.

“The crescent moon was NOT sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10th April 2024,” the tweets reads.

May Allāh allow us to utilise the remaining moments of this blessed month to engage in that which pleases Him, may He accept our siyām, qiyām & a’māl & may He allow us to witness many more Ramadāns in good health. Āmīn.

This development comes a day after the federal government announced Tuesday and Wednesday as public holidays.

This implies that Nigerians will have only one day to celebrate eid-il-fitr as against the traditional two days.
