Labour Party’s 2023 Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, urges Muslims to dedicate the final days of Ramadan to praying for Nigeria’s leaders, emphasizing the responsible use of public funds for the common good.
During the commissioning of a borehole gifted to the Sabon Layi community on the outskirts of Bauchi metropolis, Obi highlighted the importance of collective prayers and community support.
“In this Ramadan season, we’ve embarked on a journey to assess various communities, seeking opportunities to extend our assistance and alleviate their hardships.”
He continued, “The Sabon Layi community faced a significant water shortage, and we’ve stepped in to provide a borehole, ensuring access to clean water. Additionally, we’re supporting 100 households with tokens to enhance their Sallah celebrations.”
“As we enter the final stretch of Ramadan, I urge everyone to pray fervently for Nigeria. Our nation is our only home, and it’s imperative to pray divine guidance for our leaders, from the president to governors, that they may utilize public resources for the common welfare. The escalating cost of essential commodities has burdened ordinary citizens.”
Reflecting on the significance of the borehole project, Obi emphasized his commitment to understanding and improving the lives of Nigerians, particularly during challenging times.
“I’ve been traversing communities nationwide during Ramadan, striving to comprehend their realities and offer assistance to enhance their livelihoods.”
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Sabon Layi community, Malam Aminu Muhammad, representing the village head, thanked Obi for the benevolent gesture. He pledged the community’s commitment to safeguarding the borehole for the collective benefit, aligning with the initiative’s intended objectives.
