Police arrest nine others over culpable homicide in Yobe


At least Nine persons have been apprehended in connection with two separate culpable homicide case in Yobe, the police in the north east state have disclosed.

The suspects were arrested following reports by persons who witnessed their involvement in the murder incidents that happened in Damaturu, the state capital.

The development is contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the command Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim.

In one of the incidents, one Muhammed Muhammed killed his 19-year-old son Hashimu Mohammed after stabbing him with a knife during a heated argument

DSP Abdulkarim disclosed that the incidents, which occurred on March 29, 2024, at about 6:30 pm, was reported by one Mohammed Sani of Nayi-Nawa Ward.

He added that, the victim lost blood and died before reaching the hospital, disclosing that the culprit fled and was later arrested.

“In a similar vein, on 3rd April 2024 at about 2100hrs, another distress called from one Usman Abba of Nayi-Nawa Ward was intercepted that, on the same date at about 20:45hrs, a gang of youth between the age of 17 and 20 years old, all of Nayi-Nawa Ward, about nine in number, carried out a mob action on his son, one Mamman Usman 17-year-old brutally beaten and stabbed him with a knife and died on the spot .

“Currently, eight of the culprits were arrested while Police are on the pursuit of one of the fleeing culprits,” he said.
