Adamawa man stabs wife to death over missing phone


One Ibrahim Abubakar, a butcher, has killed his wife in Adamawa state, the police in the north east state have said.

The 33-year-old suspect stabbed his wife, 25-year-old Hajara Sa’adu, to death after accusing her of taking his phone.

The tragic incident happened around 4:30 am on Monday, April 8 at the couple’s residence in Sabon Gari area of Girei Local Government Area of the State.

According to the police, trouble began after Abubakar accused his wife of taking away his phone, leading to an argument during which the suspect stabbed the deceased around her back repeatedly.

Confirming the incident Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident.

He said the butcher stabbed his wife and left her in a pool of blood.

Nguroje explained that the suspect was arrested after a report to the police by the father of the deceased.

He added that preliminary investigation had led to the recovery of material evidence at the scene of the crime which the suspect had used in perpetrating the crime.

He said the suspect had voluntarily confessed his act and expressed the regret of having killed his wife and mother of their only child.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, while expressing disappointment over the unfortunate incident, assured that the command will diligently prosecute the culprit,” Nguroje said
