Didier Drogba, the revered Ivory Coast and Chelsea legend, praised Nigerian international Victor Osimhen for his spectacular goal during Napoli’s recent encounter against Monza.
Osimhen’s goal, a sensational header likened to a basketball jump shot, marked the opening goal in Napoli’s 4-2 triumph. The goal garnered widespread attention in football, earning Osimhen the moniker “Osi-Air” for his exceptional aerial ability.
Despite sustaining an injury while executing the remarkable goal, Drogba commended the young striker’s performance. In his comments on the goal, the former striker acknowledged that he wouldn’t have dared to attempt such a feat during his playing days.
“I witnessed Victor score that goal against Monza. Oh God! He got hurt, I thought. I wouldn’t have gone for that ball, it’s insane. An unbelievable goal!,” he remarked.
Osimhen’s leap during the match against Monza measured 2.23 meters. However, this fell short of his previous record-setting jump of 2.58 meters during Napoli’s victory over Spezia, as reported by Sky’s Studios via The Napolista.
In the earlier encounter against Spezia, Osimhen achieved an astounding leap of 71cm, reaching a height of 8.47 feet (2.58 meters) – surpassing the crossbar height (8 feet) – before heading the ball past Spezia goalkeeper Bartłomiej Drągowski.
