  • Murtala Muhammed Airport Command of Nigeria Customs Service in Lagos generated N45.23 billion revenue in Q1 2024
  • Customs Area Controller Mohammed Yusuf highlighted challenges but emphasized commitment to revenue collection and combating smuggling

The Murtala Muhammed Airport Command (MMA) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Lagos revealed yesterday that it generated N45.23 billion from importers at the airport in the first quarter of 2024.

Comptroller Mohammed Yusuf, the Customs Area Controller, stated that the revenue collected marked a significant increase of 111% compared to the same period in 2023.

In 2023, the command generated N21.36 billion; in the first quarter of 2024, it recorded N45.23 billion, reflecting a difference of N23.86 billion.

Addressing the command’s activities during the first quarter of 2024, Yusuf highlighted the challenges posed by global economic instability and fluctuating exchange rates. Despite these obstacles, the command remained steadfast in its commitment to collecting revenue for the federal government while combating smuggling and facilitating legitimate import and export trades.
