Delta man sent to prison for defiling landlord’s 11-year-old daughter

In Delta State, one Ernest Okporu has been remanded for allegedly defiling his landlord’s 11-year-old daughter.

The State High Court sitting in Orerokpe community, Okpe Local Government Area of the State ordered the remand of the accused at the facility of the Nigerian Correctional Services, Sapele.

Hon. Justice Joe Egwu, the presiding judge, also adjourned the matter to April 24 for the advice from the Department of Public Prosecution, DPP.

Okporu was arraigned in Court on Tuesday.

Human right activist, Comrade Kelvin Ejumudo commended the Court for remanding the suspect, pointing out that it will serve as a deterrent to others.

According to Ejumudo, “for those who reached out to me to back off from this case and also offered money, I am sorry I do not indulge in such unscrupulous practice because an injury to one is an injury to all and injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere.

“I will continue to push for a Nigerian society free from rape and defilement.”
