China’s automobile industry witnessed a notable upswing in the first quarter of this year, with auto sales reaching 6.72 million units, marking a 10.6% increase compared to the previous year. Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers unveiled this positive trend on Wednesday.
March alone saw a significant surge, with auto sales exceeding 2.69 million units, indicating a 9.9% year-on-year growth.
In terms of production, the first quarter saw a 6.4% rise compared to the previous year, totaling about 6.61 million units.
Remarkably, New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) maintained robust momentum during this period. NEV output experienced a remarkable surge of 28.2% year-on-year, reaching nearly 2.12 million units. Similarly, NEV sales climbed by 31.8% year-on-year, totaling 2.09 million units.
Furthermore, the data revealed a significant increase in auto exports, which rose by 33.2% year-on-year to over 1.32 million units.
These figures indicate a resilient performance in China’s auto industry, with both domestic and international markets contributing to the sector’s growth trajectory.
