- Lagos State Transportation Commissioner urges adherence to speed limits, emphasizing safety on newly rehabilitated Third Mainland Bridge
- Osiyemi encourages passenger involvement in enforcing speed regulations, urges reporting non-compliance incidents to LASTMA for enhanced road safety
In response to a recent road crash on the Third Mainland Bridge, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, issued a statement urging commuters to prioritize safety while traversing Lagos roads.
Osiyemi emphasized the importance of adhering to the designated speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour, particularly on the newly rehabilitated Third Mainland Bridge. He stressed that compliance not only ensures personal safety but also safeguards the lives of other road users.
The commissioner reiterated the state government’s commitment to enforcing speed limits and urged passengers to actively participate in promoting road safety. He encouraged passengers to remind drivers to adhere to recommended speed regulations and to report instances of non-compliance to the nearest Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) outpost.
“Should any driver persist in flouting these essential guidelines, passengers are encouraged to promptly report such instances to the nearest Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) outpost,” Osiyemi said.
The appeal follows a tragic accident on the Third Mainland Bridge that occurred on Wednesday, resulting in two passengers being plunged into the Lagoon.
